The 100 Club began, in 1953, when a handful of citizens deemed a need to provide financial support for the families of peace officers killed in the line of duty. The Board added the provision of providing life protecting equipment and educational opportunities as well as an awards program honoring peace officers for outstanding performance. In 2001, firefighters killed in the line of duty were added to our coverage. In 2006, financial support fordependents of sworn personnel of Texas DPS, Parks & Wildlife and TABC and Institutional personnel of TDCJ killed in the line of duty anywhere in the State of Texas was added to our mission.
