The Youth Justice Coalition (YJC) is working to build a youth, family and prisoner-led movement to challenge race, gender and class inequality in Los Angeles County's and California's juvenile injustice system. At SHE Wins Inc., our mission is to create a pipeline of leadership for girls affected by violence. Using a small-cohort based approach, our summer and school leadership programs serve Newark girls ages 10-15 years old. C.H.A.N.G.E. Enterprises, Inc. is a 501c3 educational, charitable, and research non-profit organization established with the mission to inspire, educate, and transform the lives of young people. By re-conceptualizing the traditional idea of entrepreneurship, C.H.A.N.G.E. empowers youth to identify their unlimited potential and explore the positive opportunities that entrepreneurship provides to their self-development and the enhancement of their communities.
In 1998, the club created the Foundation who’s mission is “To manage and grow the funds entrusted to it in a lawful manner and to make available charitable funding in perpetuity for qualified beneficiaries selected by the Rotary Club of Point West.” Since 1998, the Foundation has donated over $1.1 million to over one hundred worthy charitable causes in three broad categories: Organizations that create opportunity, enhance self esteem, and provide physical and moral support for vulnerable children; Programs that celebrate or promote community service; and Service activities of Rotary International and other Rotary clubs. Grants must finance a specific benevolent activity; requests for support of general operations (operating expenses) are not considered; and grants are made only to qualified 501 (c) (3) and other tax qualified organizations. The mission Young for Youth Foundation are aimed at building a more promising future for inner-city children and teens in need the foundation plans to focus on developing and supporting health, wellness, athletic and other educational programs for the under served, low-income children and teens living primarily in the inner city areas of Philadelphia, Memphis and New Orleans.
