EXCEPT FOR CAPITAL CAMPAIGN PROJECTS, THE FOUNDATION MAY NOT DISTRIBUTE PRINCIPAL IN EXCESS OF ONE-TENTH OF THE TOTAL PRINCIPAL EACH YEAR. THE ORLANDO UNION RESCUE MISSION, INC. HAS A SIGNIFICANT VOICE IN THE DISBURSEMENT OF FUNDS IN THAT THEY MAY REQUEST IN WRITING ON A QUARTERLY BASIS AS TO THE AMOUNT OF THE FUNDS THAT THEY NEED. THE SUPPORTED ORGANIZATION APPROVES ALL BYLAWS AND ANY CHANGES TO THEM. THE DISTRIBUTION REQUIREMENTS ARE STATED IN THE BYLAWS.

What started out in 1984 as a humble effort to house families experiencing homelessness in two farmhouses and five rented apartments, has since grown into one of Orange County’s most impactful nonprofits. Tackling the pervasive issue of homelessness for families with children, last year Families Forward improved the lives of more than 13,000 people. From providing food assistance, career coaching, mental health counseling, to financial literacy education, we’re as committed to strengthening overall wellbeing as we are to ensuring everyone has a place to call home.

Jovenes

At Jovenes, which translates to 'youth' in Spanish, we help homeless youth (ages 18-25) end their nightmare of homelessness. A home and family for those without, Jovenes provides an innovative program of stable housing options, compassionate care, life skills training, and employment support to young adults seeking a path to life change. Our mission is to help homeless and at-risk youth become productive and integrated members of our community. Jovenes works deeply with each of our youth, focusing on housing stability, employment and education, access to healthcare and benefits, and recovery from childhood trauma. We empower those we serve so they can develop healthy relationships and make meaningful contributions to the community we share.
