Traditionally a college for women, and one of the first colleges to confer a college degree to women, SEU was founded by the Sisters of Charity in 1899, with a mission to be a community of learning in the Catholic liberal arts for students of diverse ages, backgrounds, and cultures. Founded by the Felician Sisters of Lodi, New Jersey, it began as Immaculate Conception Normal School with the first summer session commencing on July 5, 1923.

To serve as the global repository of historical documents, artifacts, film, and books related to the development of the PR profession. Just as important, we teach students the role of PR in shaping culture, politics and business throughout history. As the world's only such archive for PR materials, we host hundreds of students and scholars from around the world each year. We also produce free events for students showcasing the role of women and minorities in our history-- individuals left out of the textbooks.
Americans for Oxford, Inc. (AFO) is the University’s North American fundraising body that seeks gifts to support Oxford and its Colleges. It enables the University to maintain and enhance its tradition as one of the great universities of the world. Ensuring this status requires an ongoing commitment from all Oxonians. AFO has been determined by the United States Internal Revenue Service as a tax-exempt public charity.
